Former Deputy President Gachagua has claimed that his impeachment was politically motivated due to his outspoken stance on issues affecting Kenyans.

Speaking on Tuesday morning during an interview with Luhya radio stations at Karen in Nairobi, he alleged that lawmakers were financially influenced to vote against him.
According to Gachagua, each Member of Parliament allegedly received a Ksh500,000 token, while Senators were given Ksh10 million each to support his removal from office.
He further claimed that President Ruto had urged him to step down in exchange for Ksh2 billion, which would allow him to continue his business and maintain security. Gachagua, however, questioned why the president would attempt to dictate his future political path.
While criticizing the current administration, the former DP dismissed reports suggesting he was worried about a supposed scheme to block him from contesting in the 2027 general elections.
He insisted that vying for a political seat was not a necessity for him, emphasizing that he would continue voicing his political opinions regardless of any threats.
Gachagua also criticized the government for what he described as a lack of urgency in addressing the rising cases of abductions in the country.
He revealed that he had raised concerns about the issue while still in government but lamented that despite repeatedly bringing it to the president’s attention, no action had been taken to curb the problem.
