A recent video of Bradley Marongo, popularly known as Gen Z Goliath, has ignited a firestorm of reactions from Kenyans and other Africans.
The video, which shows Marongo playing with a lioness in Dubai, was part of a sponsored trip by Zamzam Electronics.
In the footage, Marongo is seen crawling on the ground while the lioness playfully disturbs him, with his hosts cheering in the background.
The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism. Many viewers felt that the content was disrespectful to Marongo, with some comparing his treatment to that of a baboon simply because he is African.
The backlash was swift, with social media users expressing their outrage and disappointment.
Marongo’s former manager, Director Trevor, has come out publicly to condemn the incident. He has stated that the video went overboard and did not reflect good content creation practices.
Trevor emphasized that such content was not appropriate and called for more thoughtful and respectful approaches in the future.
Trevor went ahead to demand the directors of Zamzam Electronics delete the video from all their social media accounts, for they were attracting a lot of backlash.
In response to the backlash, Marongo addressed his followers, clarifying that the video was meant to be light-hearted and fun. He went ahead and apologized to his fans. Marongo also promised to be more mindful of the content he creates moving forward.
