President William Ruto has pledged a donation of Ksh 100 million to the Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu, Nairobi. The announcement was made during a vibrant Sunday service attended by hundreds of congregants on March 2, 2025.

President Ruto, who has been known for his generous contributions to religious institutions, emphasized his commitment to supporting the church’s infrastructure development and community outreach programs. “I am a product of giving to God, and I’m unapologetic about it,” Ruto declared, reaffirming his dedication to uplifting faith-based initiatives.

The donation has reignited debates over the intersection of politics and religion in Kenya. Critics have questioned the timing and source of the funds, especially following recent controversies over similar donations rejected by other denominations.

The Catholic Church, for instance, returned a Ksh 5 million donation from Ruto in November 2024, citing ethical concerns over political influence.

Despite the criticism, Ruto remains steadfast in his support for religious institutions. “We will build this church so that we can shame the enemies of the nation of Kenya,” he stated, addressing the congregation at Jesus Winner Ministry.

The President’s office has clarified that the Ksh 100 million pledge will be drawn from Ruto’s personal finances, not public coffers. This defense echoes previous instances, such as his Ksh 5 million donation to Crispinus Anglican Church in December 2024.

As the debate continues, the Jesus Winner Ministry and its congregants are set to benefit from the substantial donation, which aims to support the church’s construction and accommodate its growing following.
