EPRA Announces Reduction in Fuel Prices Effective June 14

Fuel Prices Effective June 14

In a welcome relief for consumers, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a reduction in fuel prices in its latest review, effective from midnight on Friday, June 14. The review sees significant cuts across the board for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene.

According to EPRA’s statement, the price of Super Petrol has been reduced by Ksh3.00, bringing the new price in Nairobi to Ksh189.84 per litre. Diesel prices have seen a more substantial cut of Ksh6.08, now retailing at Ksh173.10 per litre. Kerosene, crucial for many households, will now be sold at Ksh163.05 per litre, following a reduction of Ksh5.71.

The regulatory body attributed the price drop to a decrease in the landing cost of petroleum products and the stabilization of the Kenyan shilling against the dollar. “In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at Ksh189.84, Ksh173.10 and Ksh163.05 effective midnight for the next 30 days,” EPRA noted in their statement.

This price adjustment comes as a relief to many Kenyans facing rising living costs. The reduction in fuel prices is expected to have a positive ripple effect on the economy, potentially lowering transportation and production costs.

  • The detailed breakdown of the new fuel prices is as follows:
Super Petrol: Reduced by Ksh3.00 to Ksh189.84 per litre
Diesel: Reduced by Ksh6.08 to Ksh173.10 per litre
Kerosene: Reduced by Ksh5.71 to Ksh163.05 per litre

The new prices will remain in effect for the next 30 days, providing a period of stability for consumers and businesses alike. EPRA’s move underscores its role in regulating fuel prices and ensuring they reflect current economic conditions.

As the global oil market continues to fluctuate, EPRA remains vigilant in its mandate to protect consumers from volatile price swings, while also considering the broader economic impacts. The current reductions are a testament to these ongoing efforts.
