A group of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Members of County Assembly (MCAs) has called on Generation Z to temper their demands on President William Ruto, urging the youth to approach issues with more reason and less confrontation. This appeal comes amidst growing unrest and persistent pressure from the younger demographic on the president.
In a statement, the UDA MCAs defended President Ruto, who has faced significant criticism from the youth for several months. They emphasized the need for constructive dialogue rather than unreasonable demands and disruptive actions.
The MCAs also addressed the recent surge in violence, which has often occurred under the guise of peaceful protests. They warned that Gen Z’s demonstrations have been infiltrated by malicious actors, leading to widespread lawlessness, destruction of property, and even loss of life. The MCAs condemned these acts, stressing the importance of maintaining order and safety.
Furthermore, the MCAs alleged that certain elements within the political and civil society sectors have co-opted the demonstrations to advance what they described as “a very nefarious and crooked agenda.” They claimed that these groups are exploiting the genuine grievances of the youth for their own ends, further exacerbating tensions and undermining the efforts to address the issues at hand.
The UDA MCAs called for an end to the violence and urged all stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions to resolve the ongoing conflicts. They highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation in navigating the nation’s challenges and achieving progress.
As the situation continues to unfold, the government’s response and the actions of the youth will be closely watched, with hopes for a peaceful and constructive resolution.
