Liverpool’s dominance was evident from the start, with Cody Gakpo opening the scoring in the 34th minute with a first-time finish from close range. The goal leveled the tie on aggregate and set the tone for the rest of the match.

The second half saw Liverpool take complete control, with Mohamed Salah converting a penalty in the 51st minute after Darwin Nunez was fouled carelessly in the box by Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky reviving the hopes of Liverpool qualifying to the finals.

Dominik Szoboszlai added a third goal in the 75th minute with a low finish following a slick Liverpool attack, killing the hopes of Tottenham advancing to the finals of Carabao cup.

Virgil van Dijk capped off the scoring in the 80th minute with a powerful header from a corner, sealing a big win for the reds at Anfield.

Tottenham, who had taken a 1-0 lead in the first leg, were unable to respond to Liverpool’s relentless attack that blown their hopes for a trophy this season. The defeat leaves Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou under increasing pressure, with the team currently languishing 14th in the Premier League and having won just four of their last 13 games in all competitions.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp in the offseason, will now lead his team into the Carabao Cup final in his first season in charge. The Reds are in contention for an unprecedented quadruple of trophies this season, having already reached the round of 16 in the Champions League and remaining in the FA Cup.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, will be looking to end a 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy. Their 4-0 aggregate victory over Arsenal showcased the threat posed by Eddie Howe’s team, and they will be eager to challenge Liverpool for the Carabao Cup title on 16th March 2025 at Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool’s victory was another big cameback making a testament of their depth and quality, with goals from Gakpo, Salah, Szoboszlai, and Van Dijk ensuring a dominant performance. The Reds will now turn their attention to the final, where they will aim to retain the trophy they won last year and add another piece of silverware to their collection.
