Manchester United secured their first Premier League win of the 2025/2026 season in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Burnley, with new signing Bryan Mbeumo netting his first Premier League goal for the club. The win at Old Trafford provides a vital lift for the Red Devils and manager Ruben Amorim after a difficult start to the campaign.

United took a deserved lead in the first half through a Josh Cullen own goal. However, a spirited Burnley side twice fought back to level the score. Lyle Foster equalized for the visitors early in the second half, only for Mbeumo to immediately restore United’s advantage just over a minute later with a clinical finish inside the box.

The match remained a tense and end-to-end affair, and Burnley once again drew level through Jaidon Anthony. Just as the game appeared to be heading for a draw, a late penalty was awarded to United following a VAR check for a foul on Amad Diallo. Captain Bruno Fernandes stepped up and, in the 97th minute, converted the spot-kick to seal a hard-fought win.

The victory, while dramatic, gives huge relief to Manchester United and their fans. It was a crucial three points for Amorim’s side, and the decisive goal from Mbeumo will be a significant moment for the Cameroonian forward as he looks to establish himself at his new club.
